Things to Do

Over twenty courses are in easy reach from us. These include the world famous Championship courses of St. Andrew and Carnousite. There are also another several within a five mile radius including the Strathmore Golf Centre. If you would like your start times booked we can arrange this for you.

Game anglers are spoilt for choice. The rivers Tay, Isla, Ericht are famous for their salmon, the king fish. Trout Anglers can chose between rivers, burns or spend the day on one of the numerous Lochs. Course fishing is also available. Fishing can be taken by the week, day and is sometimes free!

Various kinds of game shooting is available. Driven Grouse Pheasant, Duck, Geese, and Pigeon. Opportunities for stalking Red Deer, Roe Deer and Sika are plentiful. Clay target shooting is also available. Novices can receive tuition whilst more experienced shots can choose from Sporting, D.T.L, and Skeet A.B.T.

A range of picturesque walks graded from country strolls to mountain treks are all around is Glenisla. the Augus glens and for the more experienced, the Southern Grampian Mountains. Some of the easier walks are also suitable for wheelchair users and advice is freely available. If you love your walking then the Cateran Trail is the one for you. It’s 64 miles long (103km) and goes through many beautiful places including, Rattray, Blairgowrie, Bridge of Cally, Kirkmichael, Lair, Kirkton of Glenisla, Lair, and Spittal of Glenshee. Airlie Mount Mansion is located a short distance from 3 great Angus Glens ideal for cycling. Glen Isla, Glen Clova, and Glen Povey are some of the most beautiful Scottish Glens. To the south of Aylth is the flatter farm lands of Angus leading down to the River Tay to the south. You can cycle to Glamis Castle, or Scone Palace. If you wanted a week-long cycle tour try Hooked On Cycling which has a cycle tour which passes through Alyth.

Ideally situated in Scotland’s largest ski area, the Glenshee Ski Resort. A variety of runs are available to suit all abilities from nursery to advanced. Ski hire can easily be arranged if required.

Alyth Bowling Club is a few hundred yards away and visitors are very welcome.


Less than an hours drive is Braemar, Perth, Dundee, Forfar, Blairgowrie, Dunkled, and Pitlochry. Balmoral Castle, Glamis Castle, and Angus Folk Museum are just some of the many historic sights close to hand.
